So this week while all of you were reading (and I hope commenting on Monday’s Medieval Mumbles and Wedensday’s White Lightning post from Jessica James, I have been moving. No, we haven’t left our Pacific paradise home in Nicaragua. We actually don’t even have a house yet. We’have moved from an ocean side condo with this stunning view, several blocks inland to a larger house (2 bedrooms/baths instead of one of each). No, that view will no longer be right outside my back door, but I can come and visit it with a short walk, any time I want.

Now about moving. I have moved my permanent home more than 15 times during my adult life. I know that’s hardly a record. However, each move has been unique in one way or another. And since my marriage each permanent move has been to a building that is under construction in some way, whether the initial build was finishing up or a renovation was under way. My DH promised me I would not have to do that this time. So we are renting other peoples’ homes while we wait for ours to be completely built.

Also, everytime we moved the process was essentially the same, hold a garage/yard sale to divest ourselves of the things we would not need in our new home. Pack boxes, crates, bins and barrels with as much cushioning for fragile items as we could afford. Load said boxes, bins, barrels, and crates onto a truck. Then move the items in the truck to either our new home or temporary storage. Many of the items that will live in our final home are still in storage (I count a container imported and sitting on a dock waiting for customs approval as temporary storage). However a reasonably large number of items have accumulated in our one bedroom condo. Hence the move to a larger space.

So think of me when you read this. I’ll be packing, hauling, and unpacking for most of the week. By the time this post goes live, I should be able to put my feet up, sip the local version of lemonade (limonada), and congratulate myself and my DH on a job well done. Please leave a comment and share your moving stories.
